About Us
RecCare provides therapeutic recreation ("TR") support services, on a one to one basis, for persons with physical, mental, and/or emotional disAbilities, as well as older adults with challenges. Our therapists, qualified professionals with training and education in therapeutic recreation/recreational therapy service delivery, are available seven (7) days a week and care for our clients morning, noon, and night.
Although we are based in Southern Montgomery County, we provide services to clients throughout the general Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Valley areas.
Our Philosophy
Improving the quality of life of our clientele in a respectful and dignified manner is the paradigm that drives RecCare. As a result, this philosophy is an integral component of any intervention provided by us.
Further, in our eyes, safety and customer service are paramount. Therefore, for our clients who use wheelchairs, we own and maintain three climate-controlled wheelchair vans with the latest in wheelchair safety restraints.
What is Therapeutic Recreation?
Therapeutic recreation (TR) is an allied health profession that uses activities as a form
of treatment for persons with physical, mental and/or emotional disAbilities (See Occupational
Outlook Handbook, U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, April 1991). Specifically, unlike recreational services, this form of therapy utilizes carefully constructed recreation, leisure, and social activities to:
-
enhance the existing skills of persons with physical, mental, or emotional disAbilities
- facilitate the development of new skills in order to promote independent physical,
cognitive, emotional, and social functioning of these individuals for improved quality
of life
